A new Coles and Liquorland have opened their doors in Mambourin, delivering more than 115 jobs and adding a major retail hub to Melbourne’s western growth corridor.

The stores are part of the $60 million Mambourin Marketplace on Delama Boulevard, a 7,500sqm development designed to meet the needs of a suburb that has grown from 1,700 residents in 2021 to around 6,500 in 2025. Forecasts suggest the local population will exceed 10,000 within the next five years.

Coles Mambourin features a produce section with seasonal fruit and vegetables, a bakery with rustic breads and patisserie, and a deli offering cheeses, antipasto, and seafood. Recognising the area’s diversity, with 20 per cent of residents born in South Asia, the store includes a dedicated Indian grocery aisle stocked with spices, sauces and staples.

For convenience, customers have access to a four-bay Click & Collect service and home delivery. Store Manager Daniel Stoodley, who has been with Coles for 18 years, said he was eager to welcome the community.

“Mambourin is a growing community and we’re so excited to be opening this store to deliver everyday convenience for locals, offering everything they need from quality produce to freshly baked bread and speciality groceries,” he said.

“The majority of my team are locals and for 60 of them this will be their very first job, and I know the community will welcome them with open arms as they kick-start their careers with Coles.”

Opposite Coles, Liquorland Mambourin offers more than 1,100 wines, 240 beers and 420 spirits, with a strong emphasis on locally sourced drinks from Bellarine, Werribee, Ballan, Torquay and Mornington. A glass “spirit wall” connects the liquor store visually to the supermarket, one of only a few of its kind in the country.

Store Manager Ryan Winfield described the opening as a personal milestone.

“Opening my first store has been an incredible milestone. We’ve built a tight-knit crew from all walks of life and I’m proud of the energy they bring,” he said.

“With a range that encompasses so many local businesses from nearby wineries to coastal breweries, I’m confident the store will quickly become part of the fabric of the community.”

Coles Mambourin has partnered with food rescue charity SecondBite and has donated $3,000 to Wyndhamvale Football Club to support junior sport. Both stores include energy-efficient features, with the Coles rooftop fitted with more than 540 solar panels.

Coles Mambourin is open daily from 7am to 10pm. Liquorland is open 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 7pm on Sundays.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
