City of Parramatta has unveiled a redesigned website aimed at making it easier for residents to interact with Council services, access information on local events, and receive faster responses to their requests.
The updated site is designed to work seamlessly across mobile devices, with clearer layouts and simpler navigation. Whether locals are checking park facilities, planning a swim, paying rates, or finding out about upcoming events, the Council says the new site makes it easier to do so with fewer clicks.
A key new feature is the request management system, which allows residents to track progress after submitting a service enquiry. Users now receive confirmation via text message or email at the start and finish of the process, providing a more transparent line of communication between the Council and the community.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the changes were shaped by community feedback and are part of a wider effort to build a more responsive customer experience.
“Our website is often the first point of contact for our residents requiring clear and concise information quickly, so it needs to be fast and easy to use,” Cr Zaiter said. “Whether it’s paying your rates, getting details about an upcoming event or just looking for somewhere to swim or a park to visit, our new website will help people get the information they need quickly and easily.”
Accessibility has been a key focus in the rebuild. The website is fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA standards and includes inclusive imagery, user-friendly layouts, and descriptive alt text to support residents who rely on assistive technologies.
New features include:
- A central event calendar that hosts Council-run and community events, with options to filter by location or type
- Interactive maps highlighting nearby amenities and points of interest
- Enhanced mobile-friendly webforms for smoother submissions
- A predictive search bar to help users find what they’re after more efficiently
- A feedback tool so visitors can share their thoughts about the website’s usability
The website refresh forms part of the Council’s broader Customer Experience Transformation Plan, which aims to make services more accessible and tailored to how people want to engage with local government.
“Through this project, we’re aiming to deliver a consistent and seamless experience across all Council channels, deliver services when and where people want them, and provide better customer engagement while building a customer-centric culture within our organisation,” Cr Zaiter said.
Further updates and digital enhancements are expected over the coming months, with the Council committing to continue refining the platform based on user feedback.
