In response to the rising mental health challenges faced by youth, professionals, and the elderly, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), under its corporate wellness initiative PEACE Program, in collaboration with the Australian Multicultural Organisations Network (AMON), organised a special seminar titled “O Mind! Smile Plzzz…!” at the Hallam Senior Citizens Centre, Victoria.

The seminar, held recently, attended by over 220 people, aimed to raise awareness about mental health and offer holistic, spiritual solutions.

The two-hour seminar was led disciples (Sadhvis) of Indian spiritual leader Ashutosh Maharaj, also known as Divya Guru, who is the founder of DJJS. The speakers—Sadhvi Tapeshwari Bharti, Sadhvi Parma Bharti, and Sadhvi Shailasa Bharti—offered insights into mental health from spiritual, physical, and nutritional perspectives.

Sadhvi Tapeshwari Bharti delivered a session titled “Google Within: Meditation for Mental Health,” in which she introduced two conceptual models: the human model, guided by sensory experience, and the spiritual model, rooted in soul consciousness. She spoke about Brahm Gyan meditation and its potential to bring mental equilibrium by accessing a state of thoughtlessness.

“The experience of nothingness, what we call a state of zero, with no thoughts, is the gateway to everything,” she said. “Under the tutelage of my revered master Ashutosh Maharaj, lakhs of individuals today are experiencing what we refer to as purnavtva—a state of eternal mental bliss—through consistent practice of Brahm Gyan-based meditation.”

Sadhvi Parma Bharti led a session focusing on the role of physical activity in mental well-being, particularly yoga and breathing techniques. She described the mind as a non-physical yet powerful force and introduced the idea of ‘mental viruses’ that disturb emotional balance. Through interactive demonstrations, she guided participants through various practices, including breathing exercises, yoga postures, marma therapy, and mudras, encouraging them to incorporate these techniques into daily life.

Following her, Sadhvi Shailasa Bharti spoke on Ayurvedic living and nutrition-based mental wellness. Her session explored the role of food in supporting or stressing the body’s pH system and highlighted the benefits of an alkaline-rich diet including spinach, lemon, and cucumber. Participants also engaged in light-hearted activities such as laughter routines and quizzes, which reinforced the importance of joyful living as a mental health tool.

A video presentation titled “God Can Be Seen” was screened at the end of the event, featuring testimonials from individuals who credited Brahm Gyan meditation and the teachings of Ashutosh Maharaj for their improved mental and emotional well-being.

The event drew several dignitaries, including Gary Maas MP (Narre Warren South), Casey Mayor Stefan Koomen, Councillor Lynette Pereira, AMON Chairman Manoj Kumar, AMON President Dr. Raju Adhikari, Olympian and Melbourne Wrestling Academy Director Vinod Kumar Dahiya, and agricultural scientists Dr Pragya Kant and Dr Surya Kant.

The seminar also received glowing feedback from those in attendance. MP Gary Maas noted, “One of the great things about our community is that it’s multifaith, multicultural, and has cohesive government. When different community groups unite, we become so much better than the sum of the individual parts. Today, walking in, seeing incredible demonstrations, it stood out to me—our community cares not just about healthy bodies, but healthy minds as well.”

Mayor Stefan Koomen added, “From a mental health awareness perspective, it highlights the importance of understanding diverse approaches and embracing a holistic approach to mental health and well-being. This was an enlightening and empowering event.”

Dr Raju Adhikari, President of AMON, praised the PEACE Program for its practical and inclusive model. “I have been very impressed by the pragmatic approach of the PEACE Program and how it addresses mental health across different sections of the community. The integration of spirituality with science through the Eternal Science of Meditation is remarkable,” he said.

The event was supported by a host of sponsors including Teesdale Family Medical Centre, Absolut Financial, Trinity Medical Group, Gurzora Homes, Perfect Web Designer, Commune Health Services, Lotus Family Clinic, Urban Dream Real Estate, Brilliant Migration Club, and SAM Hair & Beauty Spot. Several community organisations such as Sahara Victorian Association, Let’s Feed, Vedic Global, Aastha, AHA, and MISC also extended their support.

With mental health a growing concern, this seminar offered participants not just information, but actionable practices rooted in tradition and guided by spirituality, bridging ancient wisdom with modern need.
