Parents across Victoria can now breathe a little easier as the Allan Labor Government reveals updated school zoning for 2026, giving families a head start in choosing a local school that works for them.
Deputy Premier and Education Minister Ben Carroll announced that the refreshed Find My School website is now live, offering the most current zoning information for families planning enrolments for next year. The update includes school zones for 17 new government schools set to open in 2026, along with changes to 7 existing zones.
It’s not just a map tweak—it’s a practical move to help families navigate what can often be a stressful time. From early Term 2 this year, families with kids heading into primary or secondary school in 2026 will be able to start planning enrolments with more confidence. The website provides zoning details simply by entering a home address or searching by school name or type.
While the focus is now on 2026, the current 2025 zones remain available for any last-minute enrolment decisions for this year. The government is keen to avoid confusion, keeping both maps visible and accessible.
Over the past decade, the Labor Government has poured $16.9 billion into school construction and upgrades. That’s translated into over 2,000 upgraded schools and a pipeline of work supporting around 26,000 jobs across construction and related sectors. Victoria is firmly on track to hit the 100 new school mark by 2026—a bold target that is looking increasingly achievable with each new announcement.
The latest school zones aren’t just about neat lines on a map—they’re part of the state’s broader push to make sure no child is left behind, no matter their postcode. For many families, school choice hinges on catchment boundaries, and clarity in this area often makes the difference between months of uncertainty and early planning.
Speaking on the launch, Ben Carroll said, “Every Victorian kid deserves access to a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live – that’s why we’re building the Education State with the biggest school building program in the country.”
He added, “We’re opening another 19 schools next year, and we’re making sure families can start planning which great school they’re going to enrol in now with updated school zones for 2026 on the Find My School website.”
The Find My School website is now live at www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au, and with Term 2 just around the corner, it’s worth checking out if you’ve got a child about to start the next chapter of their schooling.
