The Australia India Business Council (AIBC), a premier organisation dedicated to enhancing trade and investment between Australia and India, has announced the election of Deepak-Raj Gupta OAM as National Chair and Amritha Zacharia as National Vice Chair. Both will serve a two-year term.
Founded in 1986 under the auspices of the Australian and Indian governments, AIBC has played a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations through its chapters across six Australian states and its presence in India.
The newly elected leaders bring extensive experience and a shared vision to advance the Australia-India economic partnership. Their leadership is expected to further solidify AIBC’s role in promoting business opportunities and cultural ties between the two nations.
Deepak-Raj Gupta OAM, National Chair, shared his enthusiasm: “I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me to lead AIBC into its next chapter. Over the years, I have witnessed AIBC’s growth as a trusted platform for meaningful connections and opportunities. Together, we will ensure AIBC continues to thrive as a cornerstone for collaboration, growth, and innovation. I look forward to working closely with our members to amplify their voices, build impactful partnerships, and strengthen the Australia-India relationship.”
Amritha Zacharia, National Vice Chair, expressed her commitment:”It is a privilege to serve as National Vice Chair and advance AIBC’s mission of strengthening the Australia-India partnership. My focus is to create high-impact opportunities for members—ranging from small businesses to large enterprises—through purposeful collaborations and actionable innovation. By fostering engagement and driving measurable outcomes, I aim to empower our members to play a pivotal role in the Australia-India business landscape.”
AIBC extends heartfelt gratitude to outgoing National Chair Jodi McKay and National Vice Chair Ravneet Pawha for their exceptional leadership and dedication. Their tenure saw remarkable milestones, including:
- The signing of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA).
- The enhancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
- Strengthened collaborations through the Quad.
- Recognition of the Indian diaspora’s growing contributions and expanded cultural exchanges.
Reflecting on her time as Chair, Jodi McKay said, It has been an honour to lead AIBC during such a transformative period in Australia-India relations. I am confident that the new leadership will build on our achievements and further deepen the ties between our nations.”
Outgoing Vice Chair Ravneet Pawha remarked, “As AIBC enters this new chapter, it remains steadfast in its mission to drive mutual growth and prosperity through meaningful dialogue and partnerships.”
Under its new leadership, AIBC looks forward to continuing its legacy as a dynamic platform for fostering bilateral trade, innovation, and cultural exchange between Australia and India.
