A mother-of-two from Western Sydney, Kirandeep Saggar, finds herself at the centre of a chilling cross-border murder case, highlighting grave flaws in international law enforcement. What began as a casual TikTok exchange in 2023 with Indian-Canadian rapper Ranjit Bath spiralled into a nightmare that now threatens her life and family.
Their relationship, forged online, quickly soured as Ranjit became obsessed. When Kirandeep refused his marriage proposal, the obsession turned into relentless stalking. Ranjit pressured her to leave her husband and threatened harm to her family when she didn’t comply. Seeking protection, Kirandeep reported him to Australian authorities, leading to his deportation in June 2024. A subsequent attempt to re-enter Australia two months later saw him swiftly deported again.
The horror escalated in August 2024 when Ranjit, allegedly accompanied by his nephew Baljinder Singh, murdered Kirandeep’s father, Ravinderpal Singh, in Punjab, India. Ravinderpal was reportedly strangled, his body left near Pandori village. Ranjit coldly informed Kirandeep of her father’s death through a WhatsApp message, even disclosing where the body could be found.
While Baljinder Singh has been arrested and the vehicle used in the crime seized, Ranjit remains a fugitive. Authorities in India have intensified efforts to capture him, but his evasion has exposed glaring shortcomings in global police cooperation.
Kirandeep continues to endure daily threats from Ranjit, who allegedly vows to kill her and her family. Former West Vancouver Police Chief Kash Heed has criticised the lack of action from both Indian and Canadian law enforcement, warning that this inaction places Kirandeep’s life in grave danger. Despite providing evidence of Ranjit’s criminal acts, she feels abandoned by the system.
This case has drawn attention to the urgent need for improved coordination between international police forces. The failure to act decisively in the face of mounting evidence risks enabling further violence. For Kirandeep, justice remains elusive, while the threat looms large over her and her children.
As Ranjit Bath continues to evade arrest, calls are growing louder for global law enforcement agencies to act decisively. For now, Kirandeep’s fight for justice serves as a grim reminder of the perils of unchecked obsession and the critical need for effective international cooperation in the digital age.
