The Australia India Cenotaph Committee, alongside the Hindu Council of Australia and Hornsby RSL Sub-Branch, invites the community to join in honouring the brave on Remembrance Day this November. Set against the backdrop of the Anzac Jawan Cenotaph in Cherrybrook, this annual commemoration reflects the shared respect and gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of veterans.

This year’s Remembrance Day Service will take place on Sunday, 10 November 2024, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with veterans, community groups, and representatives gathering at 4:45 pm to commence the ceremony. Attendees will have the opportunity to pay tribute by laying a wreath or floral offering, commemorating the day with a mark of respect and remembrance. Each organisation or attendee wishing to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony is encouraged to bring their own tribute, as advance deliveries to the Cenotaph are unavailable this year.

The Australia India Cenotaph Committee, led by NSW President Mr. Suresh Vashist, expresses deep gratitude for the continued support from the community. This annual gathering stands as a significant moment for Australians and Indians alike to reflect on the enduring sacrifices made in service of peace and freedom.

Organisers request attendees to confirm their participation by 30th October, ensuring the service runs smoothly and honours all present with the dignity they deserve. For further information, participants can contact the Committee at 0470334473 or reach out to Nitesh at 0402906955.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
