From January 2023 to June 2024, the state recorded 6,209 enrolments in Fee-Free TAFE courses, including 452 in the construction sector. The most sought-after courses included the Certificate III in Individual Support, the Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set, and the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, among others. This wide array of choices illustrates the diverse interests and needs of Tasmanians pursuing vocational education.
The announcement was welcomed by Andrew Giles, the Minister for Skills and Training, who emphasised the transformative power of Fee-Free TAFE for students across Tasmania. “As I travel around Tasmania and the country, I meet students who tell me what a life changer Fee-Free TAFE has been for them,” he remarked.
