Altona Junior Cricket Club is gearing up for the 2024/25 season with an exciting addition to their coaching team. The club has appointed Venkata Kollu as the coach for their Under 15 JG Craig Shield team, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for junior cricket.
Venkata, who has recently taken the reins of the Under 15 squad at Yarraville Club Cricket Club, has a history of coaching success with stints at Werribee Juniors (U13) and Carnegie (U15). His impressive coaching credentials, including a Level 2 Cricket Australia accreditation, reflect his commitment to nurturing young talent. In addition to his work with local clubs, Venkata runs his own academy, CricSmart, in Melbourne’s western suburbs, where he focuses on youth development both locally and from his experience in India.
As a current player for the Melbourne Cricket Club’s Club XI team, Venkata brings hands-on experience and a mentorship approach that will undoubtedly benefit the young players at Altona. His enthusiasm for guiding emerging talent will be instrumental as the club prepares for the upcoming trials.
The Altona Junior Cricket Club is inviting aspiring young cricketers to take part in their JG Craig Shield trials, which will be held on Sunday, October 13 and 20, at the JK Grant Reserve in Altona.
With Venkata at the helm, the season promises to be a strong one for the club’s Under 15s.
