Melbourne is gearing up for an event that promises to be a purr-fect weekend for cat enthusiasts. The much-anticipated Cat Lovers Festival is making its return this October, and it’s clawing its way into a brand-new venue at the Melbourne Showgrounds. After the sold-out success of the 2022 festival, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better, sharing the space with its canine counterpart, the Dog Lovers Festival, for the first time in Victoria.

Set to captivate and educate cat lovers from all walks of life, the festival will feature a range of attractions designed to entertain and inspire. Among the new additions is the WHISKAS® Kitty Corner, where visitors can engage with cats and kittens in spacious enclosures, with experts on hand to answer all your feline questions. The BlackHawk® Pat-A-Cat Zone returns with even more space, allowing guests to get up close with rare and popular breeds. And for those who love a bit of competition, the Championship Cat Show will see leading breeders showcase their prized felines, all vying for top honours and cash prizes.

Festival Founder Jason Humphris is enthusiastic about the event’s new location and the expanded program. “We’re thrilled to be back in Melbourne at the Melbourne Showgrounds, a venue that allows us to grow and improve the experience for our visitors. The response has been overwhelming, with early bird tickets selling out in less than 72 hours. We encourage everyone to secure their tickets online quickly to avoid missing out on what’s sure to be the ultimate weekend for pet lovers.”

Humphris also highlights the unique opportunity presented by the co-location of the Cat and Dog Lovers Festivals. “It’s not every day that you can experience the best of both worlds in one place. While dogs are often out and about in the community, cats tend to keep a lower profile. This festival gives cat lovers a rare chance to interact with over 200 cats under one roof, making it a must-attend event for anyone passionate about pets.”

The festival will also feature a range of expert speakers and entertaining acts. Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, Australia’s beloved ‘Science Guy’, will take the WHISKAS® Stage to explore the fascinating science behind our feline friends. Festival favourite Jackson Galaxy, known as the Cat Daddy, will be streaming live from Los Angeles, sharing his insights on cat behaviour.

For those looking to add a new member to their family, the Adoption Zone will offer the chance to meet rescue cats and learn from experts about the adoption process. And if shopping is on the agenda, the kitty-dedicated supermarket will be stocked with everything a cat could desire, from treats and toys to luxurious beds and stylish accessories.

The Cat Lovers Festival is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of all things feline. With its expanded offerings and new location, this year’s festival is set to be the ultimate day out for Melbourne’s cat-loving community. Whether you’re a seasoned cat owner or simply curious about the world of cats, this festival promises a fun and informative experience for all.

Tickets are selling fast, so make sure to grab yours before they’re all gone. The Cat Lovers Festival is set to take place on Saturday, 26 October, and Sunday, 27 October 2024, at the Melbourne Showgrounds. It’s a weekend that no cat lover will want to miss.

Cat enthusiasts who also love dogs will receive FREE entry to the Dog Lovers Festival running next door (albeit in its own dedicated, cat-free venue).

Please note: visitors are unable to bring their own cats to the event for health & safety reasons, see website for full details on the policy.
