“We’re undertaking the largest ever recruitment blitz of healthcare workers in Tasmania’s history,” Barnett affirmed. This ambitious move comes on the heels of a previous recruitment drive targeting healthcare professionals dismissed by the Victorian Labor Government. With the expansion of this campaign to the eastern states, the message is clear: Tasmania is rolling out the red carpet for health professionals.

The advertisements, prominently featured in major newspapers, are designed to attract healthcare workers by highlighting Tasmania’s unique benefits. The government’s recruitment pitch is accompanied by substantial financial incentives. Nurses can expect offers up to $15,000, while general practitioners could see bonuses of up to $100,000. These incentives are not just about enticing workers to relocate but also about ensuring they stay in Tasmania for the long term.
