After a week-long search, 16-year-old Krishank Karthik, who had been missing from his Melbourne home, has been found safe in Western Sydney. The teenager left his Truganina home on the morning of Monday, 5 August, intending to go to school but never arrived.

His disappearance prompted widespread concern and a massive search effort, with police and the public working together to locate him. Krish’s parents, who were initially unaware that their son hadn’t been attending school for two weeks prior to his disappearance, contacted police as soon as they realised he had not reached his school that day. His mother, Shobana Karthik, had made a heartfelt appeal for his return, expressing her deep distress and worry.

The investigation into Krishank’s whereabouts led authorities to Sydney, where he was eventually found in Penrith around 1am on Sunday, 11 August. Following his discovery, Krish was reunited with his family, who had travelled to New South Wales in hopes of bringing him home.

In a social media post on Sunday, Shobana expressed her immense gratitude to everyone who had supported them during this difficult time. She confirmed that Krish was safe and still in Sydney, thanking the public for their prayers and blessings. “I don’t think this would have been possible without all your prayers and blessings. My family and I are forever indebted to everyone,” she wrote.

Earlier in the week, CCTV footage had shown Krish leaving his home with a small suitcase, leading to concerns that he had planned his departure. The revelation that he had been going through a breakup just days before his disappearance added to his family’s anxiety. However, despite these challenges, his mother remained hopeful, sending positive thoughts to her son and urging him to return home when he was ready.

Krish’s safe return marks the end of a tense and emotional week for his family and the broader community. The collaborative efforts of the police and the public have been instrumental in locating him, and his family is now focused on supporting him through this challenging time.

Anyone with further information about the case is encouraged to contact the relevant authorities, although the immediate focus is on the teenager’s well-being and recovery.
