Grammy Award winner Maxim Vengerov

Maxim Vengerov, the Grammy-winning violin virtuoso, is set to tour Australia this August in celebration of his 50th birthday. Accompanied by the renowned pianist Polina Osetinskaya, Vengerov will perform at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on 5 August, Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on 7 August, and Sydney Opera House’s Concert Hall on 10 August 2024.

Tickets for these concerts are rapidly selling out, with Melbourne’s Hamer Hall recital seats quickly being snapped up through Arts Centre Melbourne, while Brisbane and Sydney tickets are available via QPAC and Sydney Opera House respectively.

Following triumphant, sold-out performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall and London’s Royal Albert Hall, Vengerov’s return to Australia is eagerly awaited. His previous tour in 2015 was a resounding success, leaving audiences keen for his return.

The 50th birthday programme showcases 42 years of Vengerov’s public performances, featuring challenging and thrilling pieces by Ravel, Franck, and Prokofiev, along with some virtuosic encores.

In addition to the concerts, Castiglione Arts and Culture is offering three exclusive masterclasses with Vengerov. The Sydney Masterclass on 12 August will be in partnership with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Melbourne Masterclass on 8 August with Melbourne Youth Orchestras, and the Brisbane Masterclass on 6 August with Griffith University. Tickets for these masterclasses are limited and expected to sell out quickly.

Vengerov and Osetinskaya have a history of performing together to great acclaim, including at Carnegie Hall. In the 2023/2024 season, Osetinskaya will make several solo debuts, including at the Berlin Philharmonic and London’s Laeiszhalle in Bach’s concerts without a conductor. Notably, she has maintained a pacifist stance since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, leading to the cancellation of her concerts in Russia. Her international tours have since spanned both North and South America.

This tour offers a rare opportunity for Australian music lovers to witness these two exceptional musicians live, promising unforgettable performances in some of the country’s most prestigious concert venues.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
