Townsville Grammar School students bravely shaved heads to raise $13,652.89 for leukaemia research and support

In a remarkable display of solidarity and courage, 37 Year 12 students from Townsville Grammar School participated in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, raising awareness and funds to combat blood cancer. This noble initiative saw these young individuals undergo significant haircuts and shaves, symbolizing their commitment to supporting those affected by leukaemia.

The students’ brave decision to participate in this annual event reflects not only their empathy and generosity but also the vibrant community spirit that thrives within Townsville Grammar School. Each haircut and shave was a testament to their dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of those battling this devastating disease.

A special acknowledgement goes to MacKenzie from Bristle Hair and Jess from The Unlikely Barber, whose generosity and professional support made this event a resounding success. Their contributions ensured that each student felt valued and supported throughout the process, highlighting the strength of community partnerships in driving such initiatives.

To date, these inspiring students have raised an astonishing $13,652.89 for the Leukaemia Foundation. This significant amount will go a long way in supporting vital research, providing essential services to patients, and ultimately working towards a future free of blood cancer.

We encourage everyone in our community to rally behind these young heroes by making a donation. Your support, no matter the amount, will contribute to this crucial cause and help bring hope to countless families affected by leukaemia. Donations can be made through the Leukaemia Foundation’s secure website at the following link: Support Townsville Grammar School’s World’s Greatest Shave.

Let us come together to celebrate the selflessness and determination of these students, setting an example of how collective efforts can drive meaningful change. Their actions remind us all of the power of community and the impact we can have when we unite for a cause greater than ourselves.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
