Multi-talented breakout star, Indian-American, and comedic ace Sanjay Rao is ready to make a name for himself staring alongside Glen Powell, Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, and Retta in the highly anticipated and acclaimed Netflix film, HIT MAN aimed for release on the platform on Friday, June 7th

Sanjay Rao is set to dazzle audiences with his latest role in the highly anticipated Netflix film, “Hit Man,” releasing on the platform on Friday, June 7th. The film, which will also have a limited theatrical release this Friday, May 24th, stars Rao alongside notable names such as Glen Powell, Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, and Retta.

“Hit Man,” co-written by Glen Powell, is a unique blend of genres including noir, screwball comedy, and thriller. At its heart, it’s a relationship movie, exploring the complex dynamics between Powell’s character, fake hitman Gary Johnson, and his prospective client, Madison, played by Adria Arjona. Sanjay Rao and comedy veteran Retta add a humorous touch to the film, portraying Gary Johnson’s co-workers who support him with wit and encouragement during his undercover missions.

Sanjay Rao’s path to Hollywood is as inspiring as it is unconventional. Born in Arizona, his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut was sparked by a visit to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, where he met the legendary John Glenn. With a solid academic background, including a major in Biochemistry from the University of Texas in 2009, Rao initially embarked on a career in STEM. His passion for comedy, however, led him to pivot dramatically from science to the stage.

While in college, Rao balanced his studies with a job in a lab and began exploring his comedic talents in Austin’s open mic scene. Despite initial setbacks, his perseverance in improv comedy paid off, eventually leading to commercial work and a spot on the Crunchtime Show. A major turning point came in 2019 when he moved to Los Angeles and landed his first significant TV role in “The Flight Attendant.”

Rao’s story is a testament to the power of following one’s passions, even when they diverge significantly from an established path. His journey from biochemistry labs to Hollywood sets highlights his resilience and dedication to his craft.

This May, as we celebrate Asian-American Pacific Islander month, Sanjay Rao’s story is a perfect example of the diverse and dynamic contributions of the AAPI community. Rao’s fusion of STEM knowledge and comedic talent, coupled with his relentless pursuit of his dreams, makes him a standout figure in the entertainment industry.

Join us in recognising Sanjay Rao’s incredible journey and the upcoming release of “Hit Man,” a film that promises to entertain and engage audiences with its unique mix of genres and stellar performances.
