In an exhilarating celebration of unity, cultural diversity, and community connections, the Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast (MCCGC) joined hands with the Indian Community of Gold Coast (ICGC) to host a vibrant Mini Diwali festival on the 26th of October at the MCCGC Wellness Centre. The event was not only a splendid tribute to the multicultural mosaic of the Gold Coast but also a testimony to the bonds that can be forged through shared festivities.

The Mini Diwali festival sparkled with the essence of the iconic Indian festival. Attendees were treated to a feast for the senses, beginning with a mouthwatering spread of Balti Indian Grill. Henna enthusiasts revealed the intricate designs created by MehandibyMahal, adorning their hands with beautiful patterns. The evening was further enlivened by captivating performances from the Twirling Gopi and Hip Hop Bhangra, who electrified the atmosphere with their energetic routines.

The event was more than just a cultural celebration; it symbolised the heartwarming belief in the importance of nurturing relationships with various multicultural communities. It was a testimony to MCCGC’s commitment to celebrating the heritage and diversity of Gold Coast’s vibrant population.

For over 40 years, MCCGC has served as a pillar of support for the multicultural communities of the Gold Coast. Their contributions span across multiple domains, including settlement assistance, well-being, mental health support, employment guidance, NDIS assistance, cultural training, capacity building, advocacy, community integration, and referrals. Their mission is to enhance the lives of individuals and families and create a vibrant, diverse, and united community.

The event wouldn’t have been as enriching without the gracious partnership of the Indian Community of Gold Coast. Their participation showcased the strength and vibrancy of the multicultural communities that come together to create the unique tapestry of the Gold Coast.

As attendees departed from the Mini Diwali festival, they carried with them not only the joyful memories of the event but also a profound sense of community and the value of diversity. MCCGC and ICGC successfully demonstrated how cultural celebrations can serve as bridges, uniting people from all walks of life.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
