Filipino-Australian Mum, Nikka Marcial of Bexley in Sydney has been crowned Mrs Universe Australia 2022

Nikka Marcial is a mother, wife and advocate hailing from Bexley in Sydney.

This 34-year-old powerhouse is also a career woman thriving in the male-dominated world of engineering. Nikka holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and works as a full-time Quality Assurance Officer for a leading engineering consultancy firm. She is also a certified real estate consultant and investor.

A proud Filipino-Australian, Nikka moved to Australia in 2015 with her husband and now 8-year-old daughter, Kandace. Her son, Marcus was born in Australia in 2016, and Nikka became an Australia citizen in April 2021.

She is not new to beauty pageants—she holds the title of Miss Puerto Princesa City 2005 and was crowned Mutya ng Palawan 2006. In her younger years, she was into runway modeling and fashion endorsement.

In terms of Nikka’s advocacy, her life mission is to provide guiding principles for the future generation, and to give back to the community.

From a young age, Nikka has been an advocate for accessible education for everyone. She and her family have donated their time and resources to different charity organisations providing assistance to disadvantaged families and children with proper resources, livelihood, education and health care including The Lingap Pangarap Foundation in the Philippines and One Meal in Australia.

A busy career woman, juggling among her own business, looking after her family and working full time, Nikka enjoys making gourmet desserts for her loved ones in her spare time. She also indulges in event styling as a way to express her creativity beautifully with passion.

Nikka intends to utilise her platform as Mrs Universe Australia 2022 to raise awareness, resource funds to support disadvantaged children and provide help to communities that need education to be accessible.

In other news, a Sydney-based real estate and fashion identity has taken over the reins as Australian director of Mrs Universe Australia—a pageant on a ‘quest to discover the world’s most outstanding married woman who wants to leave a mark on the world’.

Marites Novis, a serial entrepreneur committed to bridging the gap between property and fashion, has been appointed the new director of Mrs Universe Australia 2022/23 by pageant owner and identity, Maryrose Salubre.

“The Mrs Universe pageant is the perfect combination of fashion, modelling and pageantry—it’s time for Australia to take the world stage!,” said Novis.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
