Are Robots the Perfect Farm Labourers?

When there are serious shortages of workers on the market, may robots be the ideal employees? Marten de Roest makes the joke that they “never need a break, never get ill, and never take time off” (RPA specialist, The Greenery). Marten has been working closely with Ghizlan Azrar (a Business & IT Management student at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences) on creating new, more intelligent robot-controlled procedures for the past few months. But what advantages does robotization offer to workers, farmers, and consumers?

“It’s crucial to be at the forefront of this kind of technology if you want to stay competitive. Being a larger firm in the fruit and vegetable market, we may benefit from RPA in order to maintain our agility. Then, we can easily predict changes. Together, man and machine will work more effectively. Ghizlan continues, “Roboticizing the Greenery’s administrative, operational operations is very vital. These eat up a lot of time and subject workers to monotonous work. If a robot takes over, the employee can concentrate on adding value, which people do better than robots. The departments for which we created these robots are ecstatic with them. Now, time can be used for more difficult jobs.

Robots have shown to save time and lower the likelihood of errors when working with clients and producers. ” This is apparent, for instance, in the weekly payment procedures and the creation of grower-specific container overviews. They receive the statements more quickly and consistently thanks to RPA, even on holidays. That’s fantastic. RPA examines commodities bills for consumers four times per day. Any goods deviation stops the corresponding invoice. As a result, we issue fewer fines and require fewer checks from clients “Marten keeps going.

“It’s good to see that Ghizlan, as an intern, has a new perspective on things and generates innovative concepts. That makes me and the Digital Innovation Team think about what we do, “Marten explains. Ghizlan has fond memories of her internship at The Greenery. “I gained a lot of knowledge about Automation Anywhere (robot process automation software – ed.). Additionally, I could put my learning objectives in the areas of interviewing and presenting to practise. “Moreover, the LSD method (listen, summarize, ask more questions – ed.). I’m content with the experience and information I’ve accumulated. You just learn theory in the course; in actual practise, there are many more factors to take into account. And as a result of all the criticism, I’ve improved. “It was extremely excellent,” she says.
