Meeta and Sanjiv Dubey along with their daughter Kaveri hosted Holi celebrations at their Hunter Valley homestead on 19 March 2022. The Dubeys have held Holi celebrations since 2018 at their rural acreage property outside the township of Cessnock, NSW. Meeta Dubey explains, “We had to skip celebrations in 2021 due to COVID restrictions. This year’s celebrations were very special, giving a sense of confidence in moving ahead in our journey. The uncertainties and lockdowns over the past 2 years have been overwhelming for most. I am so pleased that we could have family join us from the US and Singapore to celebrate Holi together”.

The colourful Day marked togetherness, celebration, confidence, and hope. Meeta Dubey welcomed everyone and family friend Phillip Boniface outlined and detailed the origins and significance of Holi. Surjit’s facilitated catering for the guests on the day. Entertainment included songs from the Bollywood Elvis Presley of Australia, and some opera singing by Alya Meyer. As one attendee wrote on social media, “colours of happiness and joy, love and affection, fun and laughter in the air; pink and greens, reds and blues, purple and violets being thrown at each other. Meeta and Sanjiv, you nailed it once again. The entire event was so beautifully organised. What a memorable celebration we had for Holi this year, the happiness generated by the presence of great friends. I guess that’s the true essence of Holi”.
