Dear Readers,

Welcome to the second edition of the year. Our cover story is on engaging with the global Indian expat population as part of Australia and Victoria’s India engagement strategies. Former ministerial adviser Nitin Gupta, who currently runs multiple businesses in Atlanta, shares his views on the big opportunities that Australia can derive out of the global Indian expat population. Given the growth of the Indian diaspora and Australia’s emphasis on diversity, we feel it is important for readers to know this is an issue that is worth exploring.

Also in this issue, we profile two young talents—Pritish A R’s who has just created a Guinness World Record for the title “Most drum beats in a minute using drumsticks” by playing 2,370 beats in a minute and Soumya Singh Deora, who at just eight years of age is the creator of Pet Care: the app connecting pet owners and animal lovers.

And from our Community Insider section, we bring to you different perspectives on how Indians in Australia negotiate their identity—a January 26 Australia Day special, also a topic that will resonate with most of you.

As we move into 2022, we thank you for reading The Indian Sun and hope to deliver the best possible content. Do follow us on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
