Prahran Market’s Sizzlefest is coming at the end of this month and we are excited! For the first time ever, the event will be held across three days and include evening sessions, celebrating the BBQ, grill and cooking over fire from 26-28 March.

Over the three days, Market Square will see different pop-up eateries selling the very best grilled eats to satisfy any appetite, including Hoy Pinoy, Bahari, Berbeo Bros, Hagen’s, Stir the Pot and Sweet Greek.  Eats, drinks and workshops by The Que Club will be an exciting addition and the Mezzanine will be transformed into a Burnley Brewing Beer Garden complete with live music from local performers.

Note: the Sausage Tasting Competition will not be the format in the photos — it will be ticketed and seated sessions

An evening schedule is a first for Sizzlefest and will take place on the Friday and Saturday. These ticketed sessions will give guests the opportunity to enjoy the Market Square and Mezzanine areas at night, with pop-up BBQ food stalls, drinks in the Beer Garden, live music and street performers. The menu will rotate and change so there will be a different offering each night. The evening sessions run from 5-10pm and tickets are $10. The ticket includes a Prahran Market insulated steel cup (perfect for keeping frothies cool, wine chilled and coffee hot).

Guests can expect to enjoy the likes of Chicken Skewers with Garlic Fried rice from Hoy Pinoy, Swordfish and Padron Pepper with Charred Fennel Gremolata from The Que Club, Beef Brisket Roll from Burnley Brewing and Robins Island Wagyu Smoked Cheeseburgers with Bacon Jam from Jimmy Brisket, plus so much more!

In Harvest Hall, the Prahran Market Demonstration Kitchen will host the likes of Fancy Hanks, Hoy Pinoy, Telina Menzies of Australian Venue Co, Juan from Berbeos Bros and Gary of Gary’s Meats on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The demonstrations will be hosted by Simon Toohey and are ticketed to ensure social distancing, attendance is free.

The Annual Sausage Tasting Competition will take place, but this year it will be a little different. Running over six ticketed sessions between 1.30-4.30pm on Saturday, each guest will receive a plate with samples of each of the ten competing sausages to try before they cast their vote. The sausages will be put forward by Bracher Arcade Traders in the hope that theirs will be named Sausage of the Year. Tickets will include a voucher that can be redeemed at the Burnley Brewing Beer Garden (those under 18 will received a $5 Prahran Market voucher).

We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
