Wyndham residents are invited to help shape a new community centre planned for one of our fastest growing suburbs.

Wyndham City is encouraging residents to complete a short survey to help guide the new Riverdale Community Centre, to be built in Tarneit West by 2021.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, who also holds the Family Friendly City Portfolio, said plans for the new centre would provide the local community in Tarneit West with access to a wide range of community services and facilities for all ages.

“Once complete, this community centre will provide residents in the fast-growing Tarneit West with access to early education and care services including kindergarten, maternal and child health, consulting rooms, meeting rooms, a lounge area with WiFi, a community kitchen, and fun outdoor spaces,” Cr Shaw said.

“We’re asking residents what they think of the new centre, and what other suggestions they may have.”

“This planned community centre highlights our continued commitment to building the infrastructure our growing community needs.”

With population forecasts predicting that by 2031 Tarneit’s population will grow by 53,000 residents to 75,000, it’s important to have services and infrastructure in place, Cr Shaw explained.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
