The 'Big Dig' at Falls Creek

It’s hard to believe that we are in the second month of spring and our coverage continues to be solid, far and wide across the hill, with a natural base of over 130cm.

We’re winding down ever so slowly, but there’s plenty of terrain open across the hill. The iconic International POMA continues to turn, which has never turned this late in the season—EVER! It’ a sign of a seriously good season!!

Bogong High Plains Falls Creek

After a record breaking 82 days of ski in ski out, minivans have replaced Snowcats in the village and locals are embracing the concrete. With temperatures warming up, the key is to get out early if your passion is carving, catching the corduroy before it softens, or if you’re more adventurous, go off piste and explore the natural features of the ungroomed terrain.

There’s a festival feel in the air as season 2017 winds down, and still plenty of fun to be had on the hill this Sunday, our closing day!

Pond Skim

Firstly we’re auctioning off the old Eagle Chairs as we have announced a big summer project replacing that chair with a high speed quad! Own a bit of Falls Creek history and purchase an Eagle chair to take home with you. All the action starts in the Village Bowl at midday on Sunday 8th.

The fun doesn’t stop there; we also have a pond skim! Come along and watch all of the action, or take on the challenge for the chance to be a King or Queen of the Pond Skim for 2017.

Eagle Chair at Falls Ceek

The winners of the Falls Creek Amazing Race will be announced, and to finish things off, we’ve got the annual Big Dig! Thousands of dollars of prizes are buried deep, come along and take part in our alpine treasure hunt!

Enjoy the last few days of this amazing season, make the most of it, head on up here strap on your board or clip in your skis for a few last turns, and enjoy the best October skiing ever!!

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
