Happy Mother’s Day to all those mummies out there! It’s a day for us mum’s to be spoiled—or so they say. Whether you are there spoiling your mum or being spoiled by your kids I hope your day is filled with love and special memories.
Try the Grampians for loads of free activities—like the Brambuk Cultural Centre, great viewing points including the Balconies, and a smattering of local parks and playgrounds filled with kangaroos jumping past.
There are loads of things to do where we don’t have to dig deep into our pockets to be entertained. In fact, sometimes the simplest of activities bring the most enjoyment. A day out to a fruit picking farm, a picnic in the park, getting lost in a maze or a trip to the Blue Mountains taking in the views.
The Mazehouse at Daylesford is the perfect spot to get lost. Literally. This 25-year-old maze, a treasure trove of games and all-round carnival fun, are wonderful for kids and adults of all ages. The spot has a café too so there is a place to unwind after all that a-mazing adrenaline rush.
Another spot mum’s sure to love is Fitzroy Garden, home to Captain Cook’s Cottage, which draws crowds from across all borders. Visitors can play dress up in the clothing of that time, pose for photos with today’s Captain Cook and pore over the artifacts reminiscent of a gone by era. Surrounding the cottage is a beautiful cottage garden.
Sometimes it isn’t about anything else than those we are doing it with. So grab your mum this Mother’s Day and make her day a special one.
Did you know most countries celebrate a day of the year they call Mother’s Day? Some countries even declare it a public holiday. Us mums are important in more ways than a few.
PS: A little peek into what the future holds—is the host country for the upcoming World Polo Championship this year in October, and is going be played right here at the Sydney Polo Club. I’m certainly excited.
