VINEET AGRAWAL

ENTREPRENEUR

When Vineet Agrawal came to Australia in 2002, it was the “work culture, wide roads and laid back, friendly people” that had him hooked.

Vineet worked in IT for a couple of years, then switched to the food industry. “I was in Sydney at the time and that’s when my father-in-law started the business,” says Vineet, currently director of Taj Indian Foods since 2009.

Vineet came to Melbourne as part of a business plan. “Business is in my blood. My family has been running businesses for 40 years. I had knowledge about how this was done but the tough part was finding clients, and convincing them about the brands I was promoting.”

That was the initial struggle. It has since paid off well for Vineet, who is importer and sole distributor of several famous Indian household brands such as Haldirams, Lata’s Kitchen, Frontier and Kwality.

“In Australia, if you follow the rules, the processes are straightforward.”

Vineet maintains his ties to India. “I have a brother there who owns a business along with my uncle. We are a joint family.”

His wife Sonal and daughter Samaira make up his family here and keep him grounded.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
