JATIN AWAD
BANKING
Jatin Awad believes that in Australia, if
you are efficient and you work hard, the sky is the limit.
The branch manager at ANZ’s Collins Street branch, where he has been for about 9 years, moved to Adelaide in 2004 as an IT student to explore opportunities in Australia. “There were not many Indians in Adelaide at the time. They mostly went to Sydney or Melbourne.”
He did various jobs while he was studying but his aim was to build a connection with the locals. His break came when he joined ANZ as a teller in 2008. He has been promoted several times since then.
“I believe in a good work ethic, efficiency and doing right by the customer.”
The Collins street branch is a prestigious location and Jatin is proud of his achievements but what drives him is growth. He is not one to rest on his laurels.
“I inspire and motivate my staff to be passionate about their work. Once they feel appreciated in their job, they give their 200 per cent.”
He is not without challenges though but he takes it in his stride.
“Balance between family and work is important, but you have to give up certain things to move up in life.”

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
