Money to help provide food, shelter and medicines to the needy as well as pay fees and other expenses for kids in various charity organisations

Care One Care All Group (COCAG) organised a fund-raising food stall and raffle at the Super Sikhs Cup on Sunday, 4 September at Bernie Mullane Sports Complex in Kellyville NSW. The fun-filled day saw crowds gathering for an endless supply—thanks to the enthusiasm of the volunteers—of steaming hot chai, sandwiches, homemade chocolates, cupcakes, brownies, gulab jamuns and chips.

S Gurpreet Singh Badwal and other team members of the Super Sikhs helped in the management of the stalls, while Gurtej Singh of Kaumi Awaaj Radio made sure the event got enough publicity on air all through the day.

Around midday, volunteer Bainy Pannu became a point of attraction when he challenged the audience to a weight-lifting contest, with the prize money being donated to COCAG to help the needy. About $200 was raised through the challenge.

Another point of attraction for the audience was the raffle draw organised by COCAG, where $500 worth of tickets were sold, thanks in great part to children.

COCAG is thankful to Maharajas Haveli, Vege Delight, Mobile Experts Chatswood, Mstar, Desire Function Centre for donating gift vouchers to raise funds for the needy.

At the end of the event, more than $3,500 was raised, which will go towards providing food, shelter and medicines to the needy as well as paying fees and other expenses for kids at various charity organisations.

COCAG has now placed piggy boxes at several businesses and households in the area. One Piggy Box collected from Chatkazz Restaurant in Harris Park contained $522 when opened up after about six months. Every little bit counts, so here’s hoping the contributions never stop.

COCAG is now working towards providing 50 sewing machines to the needy girls at New Indioz Community Centre at Jallandhar and paying for a part-time doctor and nurse at Guru Amardas Apahajj Ashram, Sarabha.
