Wyndham residents are being encouraged to share their opinions on a new Wyndham City strategy that will guide Council’s approach to some uncommon sports.
The draft Hard to Locate Sport Strategy will review and plan for the provision of sports in Wyndham that have historically occupied remote facilities and could present a higher risk than other sports, making it difficult for them to operate in an urban environment.
Wyndham City’s Sport, Leisure and Open Space Portfolio Holder, Cr Peter Maynard, said the Strategy would help Council provide appropriate facilities for these sports in the future.
“Wyndham residents participate in a wide range of sports, some of which present challenges when it comes to where they should be located,” Cr Maynard said.
“Sports like motocross, archery, shooting, car racing and horse-riding are very popular in Wyndham, yet they present several challenges to Council, the clubs that represent them and members of the community. Often it can be difficult to find locations that suit these sports, which is where this new Strategy comes in,” he said.
“This Hard to Locate Sport Strategy will guide Council’s decisions around the investment in existing sporting facilities and the provision of new facilities,” added Cr Maynard.
“I encourage residents who are interested in the future of hard to locate sports in Wyndham to have their say on this new strategy,” he said.
The draft Hard to Locate Strategy will be open for public consultation until 20 September. To view the Strategy and provide feedback visit www.wyndham.vic.gov.au or email email@example.com.
