From a rose garden to an open range zoo, Wyndham has something for every kind of tourist

Wyndham City is encouraging people visiting family and friends in Melbourne, particularly those coming from India, to explore everything Wyndham has to offer.

From the Werribee Park Mansion to the Victoria State Rose Garden, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Wyndham City’s Tourism and Major Events Portfolio Holder Cr John Gibbons told The Indian Sun that Council was encouraging visitors from India to join the more than 1.1 million people that flock to Wyndham’s tourism hotspots every year.

“Wyndham is a truly unique place with so much for people to see and experience. It is a place that more than 10,000 people with Indian heritage have decided to call home, and for good reason,” Cr Gibbons said.

“Where else can you experience a morning stroll through a grand old mansion, an afternoon safari with African and Australian wildlife and a night in a luxury hotel? In Wyndham you can do all this and more,” he added

The historic Werribee Park Mansion gives visitors an insight into times gone by, with audio tours available and rides aboard the Little Red Train for the kids to enjoy. The Great Lawn is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic surrounded by a view of 19th Century Australia.

Right next to the mansion is the Victoria State Rose Garden, where 5,000 rose bushes are on display to visitors. After visiting the rose garden visitors can walk to Shadowfax Winery, the closest winery to Melbourne’s CBD.

“Of course one of the most popular attractions in Wyndham is the Werribee Open Range Zoo, which recently welcomed four new lion cubs. If you have a loved one planning a trip to Melbourne, you can’t let them miss out on this world-class experience,” he said.

Cr Gibbons told the Indian Sun that Council wanted to encourage people visiting Melbourne from India to explore Wyndham before they go back home.

“Our Indian community here is extremely strong and diverse, which is something that we are very proud of,” Cr Gibbons said, and added, “The benefits of welcoming tourists from India with open arms are clear to see and something that we are very keen to promote. If you know someone who wants to see the best that Melbourne has to offer, then you simply must show them around Wyndham.”
