Wyndham City is a hot spot for job creation, according to recently released data by the National Growth Areas Alliance.
The research, undertaken by population demographers forecast.id, found the rate of new jobs in Wyndham jumped 36.4 per cent, representing three-and-a-half times the level of jobs growth in the City of Melbourne, making it the highest rate of growth of any municipality in the country in the five years to 2016.
The number of jobs in Wyndham increased a total of 20,623—from 56,619 in 2011 to 77,242 in 2016. Wyndham City’s Future Focussed Economy Portfolio Holder, Cr Walter Villagonzalo, said he was confident the increase in jobs would continue.

“This is definitely positive news for the people of Wyndham, we will continue to work hard to attract businesses to the region,” Cr Villagonzalo said.
“We are confident the number of jobs will continue into the future, as we have more businesses setting up shop in our City,” he added.
Recent additions in the area include six industrial developments at the Drystone Industrial Estate, which have delivered 1200 jobs to Wyndham, the relocation of Target Australia’s national headquarters to Williams Landing, which when completed will be the largest private company office in Melbourne’s West. “A further 350 jobs will be delivered when St Vincent’s Private is completed, and with the expansion of Werribee Mercy Hospital, more new jobs will be available in the medical and allied health sector,” he said.
Cr Villagonzalo also said that more small businesses were being set up around Wyndham, adding to the increase in jobs. “We work closely with small businesses to help them flourish and grow.
