The historical Werribee Racing Club that conducted its first race meeting way back in 1862 has experienced many changes, challenges and successes over the journey.

One of the real successes was last year when the Club hosted the first multicultural race meeting ever conducted in Australia. By recognising the increasing “diverse” population of the City of Wyndham, last year’s meeting was a resounding success with just under 4000 people attending.

The Club is looking to replicate last year’s program that highlighted a range of quality performers from many nationalities along with a wide range of international cuisines.

This year Multicultural Race Day will be conducted by the Werribee Racing Club on Saturday, 2 April, with gates opening at 11.30am and the day concluding around 5pm.

Club General Manager Glenn Scott said, “This is an important day on the Club’s racing calendar and we are looking to build on last year’s success. The feedback was extremely positive even from industry participants such as trainers and owners who thought it was a terrific initiative.” The Club will again run the free entry ticket promotion for all tickets registered online at www.werribeeracingclub.com.au.

“We are seeking performers who would like to be involved in the day along with food vendors who would like to promote their speciality dishes. A new addition to the program will be a fashion competition for both Miss and Mr International Racegoer of the day,” he added.

Werribee Racing Club Function Centre boasts one of the best function centres in the western side of Melbourne with the unique feature of being trackside and offering the largest floor space in the area.

“People are amazed when they visit the Function Centre because it is a great facility with ample parking and easy access. The Club is moving to a far more proactive marketing program in 2016 across the various market sectors including but not restricted to weddings, birthdays, expos, school functions, sporting club events, conference and seminars and funerals just to name a few,” said Scott, and added that the Club recently appointed a quality local caterer in Select One to provide an outstanding range of quality meals at all price levels.

Interested parties are welcome to contact the club on 9741 1800 or email g.scott@werribee.countryracing for all enquiries including booking the grounds for outdoor events.
