Australia’s leading foreign currency retailer Travel Money Oz has recommenced trade in the Indian Rupee (INR) following restrictions of trade brought about by the Reserve Bank of India’s decision to demonetise certain bank notes in November 2016.

Travel Money Oz stores can now accept valid tender INR bank notes with some restrictions only.

Scott McCullough, Retail General Manager of Travel Money Oz, said, “We’re pleased to be able to reintroduce trade in the Rupee and understand the stress and difficulty that many travellers and members of the Indian community have had. We urge customers to come in with their valid 50, 100, 500 and 2,000 INR notes and we’ll be pleased to exchange them with no restrictions.”

McCullough added that due to restrictions placed on them they were unable to accept demonetised notes.

“Many in the Indian community in particular were left holding Indian currency and not able to exchange it following the Reserve Bank of India’s decision,” he added.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
