The Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Jaanta Party Australia’s Victoria chapter organised recitation of Sunderkand Path at Mosfiel Primary School in Hoppers Crossing on 9 August, supported by the Hindu Council of Australia and HSS Australia.

The event was a success with more than 800 guests and around 150 OFBJP volunteers attending. The recitation of “Path” was done by Dharma and Raga Group (Mittal Ruparelia).

Open to all and free of cost, dinner was served to all the devotees by OFBJP volunteers after the cultural performance.

Mr TelmoLanguiller MP, Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs attended the event, representing the Leader of Opposition Hon. Daniel Andrews. Mr Languiller delivered a short speech at the event, and had dinner with the OFBJP team. Mr Shivesh Pandey was the MC for the evening and introduced the various speakers such as Dr Anjali Tikoo, Ashwin Bora and Vijeth Shetty from the OFBJP’s Victorian chapter.

Mr Languiller also graciously invited OFBJP Australia members for a “tour of Victorian Parliament” along with ALP Parliamentarians.

ISKCON volunteer Mr Darpan Mittal raised the issue of funding for ISKCON’s Kitchen project with Mr Languiller at the event. Darpan also invited Mr Languiller and Mr Andrews to visit the ISKCON Temple in Albert Park.

By organising this event in the western suburbs of Melbourne, the OFBJP has signalled that it is willing to serve the Indian community across all the parts of Victoria.

“It’s good to see the OFBJP Australia organising events in the west. The western suburbs have a huge Indian community and very few community associations or business councils have taken initiatives to organise events in the west. So it’s really good to see the OFBJP Australia taking a lead and reaching out to everyone,” said Mr Prajesh Goswami.

Major sponsors of the event included Reliance Real Estate and Relief Hair Dressing & Beauty Salon. Other sponsors were Maral Modi Accountants, Apna Bazaar, Sai Aircon Systems, Surabhi Groceries, RaMon, Aussie Travels and Priya Restaurant.

Team OFBJP thanked Mr. Chekitan Patel for taking a lead in managing the entire event.

Overall, it was a huge success for a new organisation like OFBJP to bring such a massive crowd under one roof for such an extraordinary spiritual evening.
