Omega’s new launches

⌚ Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection

Omega’s Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection features 30 new models in three different sizes. The new models, available in 38 mm, 34 mm or 28 mm versions, feature symmetrical cases that achieve a seamless integration with the bracelet. Not only does this improve the aesthetics, but it also provides a better fit for wearers with slim wrists.

The patented screw-and-pin bracelet itself has been updated with re-proportioned and domed links that give a more feminine appearance.

The crown has changed too. Now, it is conical in shape with waved edges and is much easier for delicate fingers to manipulate.

The dials of the Aqua Terra Ladies’ models remain clean and crisp, and are enhanced by diamond hour-markers. Mother-of-pearl dials remain the firm favourite, completed with 14 different refined colours with an opaline, sandy or lustrous finish. The “water-resistance” wording on the dial has been taken away and engraved on the caseback instead.

The 28 mm versions soon to be presented in 2017 will include the quartz calibre 4061. The wave-edged caseback of these watches will be stamped with the iconic Seahorse medallion.

Seamaster Aqua TerraMaster Chronometer Blue
⌚ The Seamaster Aqua Terra

In the new Master Chronometer collection, some of the most popular features have been enhanced to give the timepiece an added edge of style. The first notable change can be found in the Aqua Terra’s teak concept dial. Modelled after the decks of luxury yachts, it is one of the watch’s most defining features. For this collection, the teak pattern now runs horizontally, as opposed to vertically. The date window has been moved from 3 to 6 o’clock to add symmetry to the design and also in tribute to the design of the Automatic Seamaster Calendar from 1952—the first OMEGA watch with a date window.

The 41 mm stainless steel model on a brown leather strap includes a silvery dial with black hands and indexes and a varnished orange seconds hand. There is an orange “Seamaster” inscription on the dial, complemented by orange numbering on the minute track at the 15, 30, 45 and 60 second points—the four cardinal points linked with sailing navigation and the traditional compass.

Seamaster Planet Ocean “Big Blue”
⌚ The Seamaster Planet Ocean “Big Blue”

Inspired by the success of 2016’s Planet Ocean “Deep Black”, Omega set out to create a combination GMT and divers’ watch fashioned from a single block of blue ceramic. The resulting timepiece is known as the “Big Blue”, which signals the first time Omega has delivered a case made entirely from blue ceramic. As well as this, the watch sports a blue ceramic dial with an orange GMT track. Adding sparkle to the blue dial are hands and indexes in 18K white gold with a white Super-LumiNova coating.

The blue ceramic bezel features a diving scale with Liquidmetal numerals. A blend of orange rubber and ceramic covers the first 15 minutes. Orange rubber injections have also been used to colour the OMEGA logo on the crown and helium escape valve symbol.

Ceramic has been used in watchmaking since the mid-1980s and its introduction is largely thanks to the pioneering efforts of the Swatch Group.

Six times harder than steel, the material never scratches, discolours or fades. Omega first embraced ceramic around eight years ago in the form of a small triangle on a piece of jewellery in its Seamaster Planet Ocean collection. From this moment onwards, the material became an important part of the brand’s future creations.

Speedmaster 38 mm
⌚ The Speedmaster 38 mm

The OMEGA Speedmaster is one of the most recognised chronographs in the world. Now, OMEGA introduces this refined 38 mm collection. Fourteen new models will make up the complete Speedmaster 38 mm collection for men and women. The four models presented here provide a captivating overview of the full range.

Inspiration for this design comes from the oval subdials that the watchmaker used in the past on several of its De Ville timepieces.

On certain models, OMEGA has been able to add a diamond-paved bezel while also keeping the Speedmaster’s famous tachymeter scale. The first model, nicknamed “Cappuccino”, is made from stainless steel and 18K Sedna gold. It features an attractive bi-colour dial while the strap has been made from taupe-brown leather.
