Peppa Pig, Minions join Moon Festival

Children’s favourites Peppa and George Pig and the Minions are returning to Cabramatta Moon Festival on Sunday, 24 September.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said the Moon Festival was a time for families and friends to come together to celebrate.

“The Moon Festival is very much a family friendly event, so we’ve ensured we have attractions to suit all ages and tastes,” Mayor Carbone said. “We have plenty of great entertainment for our younger visitors, including the loveable and cheeky Peppa Pig and her brother, George, and the mischievous Minions. They are certain to put smiles on the faces of all our young visitors—and even our not-so-young!” he added.

Peppa Pig is a cute little piggy who lives with her little brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig. Peppa’s adventures always end happily with loud snorts of laughter. The Minions are small, yellow, cylindrical creatures who have one or two eyes and are the signature characters of the Despicable Me movie series.

Other entertainment for children includes: the Buddha relic, where kids can pick up a moon or a star and write down their wish to their ancestors; Lantern making in Freedom Plaza; Art and craft in the Family Fun Zone; face painting and the Lantern and Twilight parades.

“The Moon Festival program will keep families amused the whole day through,” Mayor Carbone said, adding that the headline act this year is Dami Im, who wowed a worldwide audience of more than 200 million at Eurovision last year.

“We also have crowd favourites such as cooking demonstrations, noodle eating, one-handed prawn peeling and moon cake eating competitions, lion dances, and community performances. Crowds will be enthralled by the acrobatic abilities of Dauntless Movement Crew, who will be followed at 8pm by the AirAsia fireworks finale,” said Mayor Carbone.

Network Seven has come on board again this year and will be sending news anchor and journalist Mark Ferguson and sport presenter Mel McLaughlin to MC the event, and people will be able to meet the stars of some of their favourite Channel 7 programs.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
