NSW Premier unveils Unindian teaser

Film stars former Australian cricketer Brett Lee

Premier of NSW Mike Baird launched the Unindian teaser trailer on 13 January at  a function hosted by the NSW Government’s major events agency – Destination NSW in Mumbai. The event was attended by Unindian producer/director Anupam Sharma and star of Unindian – Tannishtha Chatterjee.

The teaser trailer has now premiered online, giving audiences worldwide their first look at the highly anticipated new Australian feature.

Highlighting the complexities of Indian diaspora and wooing another from a different culture, Unindian stars former Australian fast-bowler Brett Lee in his first lead role. The movie’s lead actress Tannishtha the acted in several internationally acclaimed movies such as Bhopal: A Prayer of Rain, Siddharth, and Brick Lane.

Presented by Devendra Gupta, the romantic comedy was written by Thushy Sathi, produced by Anupam Sharma and Lisa Duff (Last Cab To Darwin), executive produced by Devendra Gupta and Chandru Tolani, filmed by Martin McGrath ACS (Muriel’s Wedding, Killing Time) and edited by Academy Award nominated Marcus D’Arcy (Lorenzo’s Oil, Babe), with support from the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency – Destination NSWUNSW Australia (the University of New South Wales) and Cochlear Ltd.

The first feature of the recently established Australia India Film Fund (AIFF), its founder and CEO Devendra Gupta said: “AIFF was formed with the vision of creating high quality cross cultural productions. Unindian is a very special film that showcases not only the rich diversity and lifestyle that NSW has to offer, but also the creative and technical expertise the Australian film industry possesses. AIFF looks forward to further harnessing this unique combination in its future projects.”

The film is set to premiere this year.
