Nirankari Mission marks Guru Pooja Diwas with tree planting

Guru Pooja Diwas is celebrated by Nirankari Missions across the world with great fervour. And so too at the Sant Nirankari Mission Melbourne Branch, where on 28 February, the premises at Rowville came alive during the commemorative celebrations of the 62nd birthday of HH Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj.

SNM propagates the philosophy of universal brotherhood. It considers entire world as one big family and propagates its mission of “World without walls; bridging humanity piece by piece”.

Volunteers of the mission, including children, helped make the day special. Local delegates including Kim Wells MP – Member for Rowville, Cr Darren Pearce – Knox Council, Cr Joe Cossari – Knox Council along with other community leaders joined this welfare event.

The programme commenced with an inspiring prayer, then a Sewa Dal (volunteers) line-up followed by volunteers inspection by SNM in-charges. SNM volunteers performed a PT parade and participated in various games. The main objective of the day was to convey the importance of rendering selfless service. Volunteers also organised a tree plantation drive, where hundreds of saplings were planted around the vicinity.

Guests of honour who attended the event acknowledged the mission’s untiring efforts in making the community a better living place.

Shashi Grover, Vice President, SNM, Australia, blessed the audience from the Holy chair and emphasized the importance of God-knowledge in life.

The event was concluded with a telecast of His Holiness’ discourse, where he said: “Today we have come to a stage where this message of truth is being given continuously. While the world is erecting walls, creating fissures and distancing man from man, the Mission continues to endeavour to establish love, brotherhood and unity. We are inspiring people to share each other’s pain and pleasure.”

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
