Sydney’s Mango Dance Studio has celebrated nine years as one of Australia’s leading Bollywood dance schools. The school was established in July 2004 by its artistic director Farah Shah, who is well known for her involvement in So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars India -“Jhallak Dhikla Ja”, Dance India Dance, Recipes to Riches, and as the official choreographer for the Australian MTV Awards for artists such as Wyclef Jean and Dizzy Rascal as well as TV commercials for SONY INDIA and UNCLE BEN.

Mango Dance Studio now boasts 4000 students and also offers a fully accredited full-time Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance) Course.

Mango Dance was recently nominated a finalist in the North Shore Business Awards.

“I am so excited to have achieved this status. We pride ourselves on all our hard work in the past and our quality of dance training. It makes me very proud,” says Farah Shah. “As a Bollywood choreographer, I am really excited about the opportunities that Mango Dance has brought over the years. It’s been a fantastic journey so far.”

Mango supplied 300 extras for Bollywood movie Chak De with Shah Rukh Khan in December 2006. Mango also sourced 20 professional dancers for Bollywood Movie Hey Baby with Akshay Kumar filmed in Darling Harbour and Martin Place in Sydney.

“When I started the first Bollywood dance classes in Sydney in 2004, the Bollywood dance form struck a chord in the Australian psyche,” says Farah Shah.

“It was my vision to create a Bollywood dance school of a very high standard and an amazing name. I feel like over the last nine years I have achieved just that,” she says.
