After a ten-year long break festival director Nawal Moudgil will be performing at the Sawan Spring Festival, a music and dance extravaganza from the Sangam Kala Group Australia (SKGA) that aims to bring out the best in multicultural arts and performing arts—singing, fashion, dancing, music, comedy, poetry and artistry—featuring local talent.

The festival, traditionally celebrated to mark the arrival of a new season, will feature a fusion of world music and dance, and cultures ranging from Indian to African, Indonesians, Chinese, Serbian, French, Afghan, Srilankan, Bangladeshi, Burmese, and Bhutanese. So get ready to feel the rhythm of Bollywood, Bhangra, Gidha, and Garba as well as feel the pulse of dance forms from the rest of the world. Turkish singing, Indian drumming, Russian belly dancers… don’t let your heart miss a beat when you are asked to join in.

In addition to the performances, attendees will have a chance to sample the choicest food and drink from each of these cultures.

Praised for being an ambassador of cultural diversity and spreading community harmony through performing arts, Nawal himself is an artist apart from promoting young talent across Australia.

SKGA is an independent not-for-profit association, which aims to promote Indian music, dance, drama and related cultural activities including films and Bollywood entertainment to people of all origins in multicultural Australia.

Through organising various festivals, musical concerts, educational film and music workshops SKGA aims at encouraging cross cultural awareness as well as foster intercultural relationships, community contributions, mutual respect, understanding and community unity.

SKGA hopes to provide a suitable platform for those individuals who love to experiment with music and films, who want to explore new horizons across international boundaries, through its various festivals such as Satrangi 7 Colors Film Festival, Spirit & Harmony Music Festival and Sawan Spring Festival.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
