Business Entrepreneur and Migration Agent, Sanjay Deshwal helping skilled migrants and students start afresh

Armed with degrees in engineering and business administration, Sanjay came to Sydney in 1994 to pursue a Masters in Business Administration from the International Business School in the University of Western Sydney. After two years, he became a migration agent. Sanjay Deshwal has helped many skilled migrants and students come to Australia to live their dream.

“Who would have thought I would be a successful migration consultant,” says Sanjay, who started his career as head of the Godrej Refrigerators service team in India. “I remember when I worked in Godrej, every event I attended people would say something about their fridges needing service. Now everywhere I go, people ask me about immigration because in almost every family there is someone looking to relocate to another country,” he adds.

“Australia is a country of migrants, and immigration is a topic which gets attention. So I knew this was the right profession for me. Immigration moves a nation, elections are won and lost on it,” says Sanjay. “Also, it’s a profession that I know makes a difference in people’s lives,” he adds.

Just ask any of his clients and they can wax eloquent on Sanjay’s expertise. “When I came to Sanjay I had already seen two migration agents, who even charged me for an initial consultation but had no idea on how to proceed with my application,” says Lalith Mohan Krishnammurthy, one of Sanjay’s recent clients. “Sanjay’s clarity and professional approach helped me make some clear decisions.”

Sanjay says immigration is easy if applicants are young, studious and willing to work hard. “The most in demand professions are accountancy, information technology and nursing,” he adds.

Always seeking new avenues of business, Sanjay, the ever-spirited entrepreneur, in 2003 started Maya da Dhaba with his brother. Most recently he started Shalini’s Fashion, which is based in Harris Park.

Sanjay regularly sponsors many shows hosted by Indian organisations and also manages visas and other formalities for Indian artistes performing in Australia. He is an executive committee member of the CIA team and organises several functions for them as well. In 2011 he was awarded the Businessman of the Year award by the Council of Indians in Australia.

Sanjay now mentors his son who following in his footsteps has completed the Migration Agent Course and is currently pursuing Law.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
