Wyndham City has welcomed the arrival of one of Australia’s largest parcel delivery companies, CouriersPlease, after they officially opened a new 29,000 square metre logistic depot in Truganina.
Supporting 80 staff and 110 franchisees, the new facility located within the $440 million logistics hub at Drystone Industrial Estate was opened by Wyndham City Deputy Mayor, Cr Kim McAliney and CouriersPlease CEO, Mark McGinley.
Wyndham City’s Future Focused Economy portfolio holder, Cr Walter Villagonzalo, said the arrival of CouriersPlease to Wyndham would bring many benefits to the local economy.
“Not only has CouriersPlease delivered new jobs to Wyndham, but also the potential for budding first time business owners to operate their own franchise supported by a well-respected and long-time player in the small parcel delivery industry,” Cr Villagonzalo said.
“We welcome them with open arms as they are another example of major businesses choosing to call Wyndham home. The 95 hectare Drystone Industrial Estate has already welcomed Target, The Reject Shop, Laverton Cold Storage and Rand Transport, creating thousands of jobs in the process,” he added.
Mr McGinley said the new Truganina location for CouriersPlease would position his organisation at the forefront of its industry. “The growth in eCommerce is fuelling an increase in parcel delivery, and we are investing in infrastructure to accommodate for the future growth of parcel volumes,” Mr McGinley said.
“The establishment of our new facility reflects an important step for CouriersPlease. Drystone Industrial Estate is a key logistics hub in one of Australia’s most significant logistics and supply chain precincts—close to major roads, with easy access to rail and air freight services,” he added.
