Wyndham residents are being invited to share their opinions on Werribee’s Kelly Park before it undergoes a safety upgrade.
Kelly Park, which is located in the Werribee City Centre, is set to be redeveloped by July 2018 thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Victorian Department of Justice as part of its Public Safety Infrastructure Funding.
Wyndham City’s Safer Communities portfolio holder, Cr Kim McAliney, said Council wanted to find out what people think of the park before work starts.

“Kelly Park is an important part of the Werribee City Centre and has a lot of potential to be a welcoming place that people of all ages can enjoy,” Cr McAliney said.
“The Victorian Department of Justice has recognised this by contributing $250,000 towards the first stage of the park redevelopment, which will cost a total of $350,000,” Cr McAliney added.
This first stage will include replacing the existing public toilets and making other improvements to the park. By upgrading Kelly Park it is hoped that more events and activities will be able to be held in it, creating a space where people can relax and connect with other members of the community.
Before these works start residents will be invited to take part in a survey to explain what they like about the space and what they would like to see change. Another survey will be held once the project is completed. The community will also be invited to attend a workshop to help guide the Kelly Park redevelopment.
“The surveys will help Council understand what the community thinks about the redevelopment and if there are any other issues that need to be addressed. If you are passing through Kelly Park during September you may see Council staff asking people to complete the survey, so please do so. By taking part you can help us build a Kelly Park that reflects the ambitions of our local community and caters to as many residents as possible,” said Cr McAliney.
The survey will be open from 28 August to 17 September.
