Experience the most exquisite as well as diverse sacred as well as breathtaking nature experiences in Australia

Unusual wildlife, rare plants, more than 500 national parks and 15 World Heritage-listed wonders, use this summer to experience the Australian outback in the Red Centre and Western Australia’s Kimberley.

Nature-lovers can enjoy lots of great journeys—from drives to nature walks through the Australian bush. Snorkel with fish and coral on Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef,  see koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, sea lions, pelicans and penguins on Kangaroo Island, a haven for Australia wildlife. Be inspired by the Daintree Rainforest, where some of the Australian plants date back to Gondwanaland. Discover the wetlands and waterfalls of Kakadu National Park, home to one third of all Australian birds. Australia is home to 550 national parks and 15 World Heritage-listed wonders. Here are a few.

Red Centre

The red monolith in Australia’s Red Centre or Uluru is sacred to the Aboriginal people here, and turns some spectacular colours at sunrise and sunset. Uluru’s cousin Kata Tjuta is just 40 kilometres away and the Kings Canyon is not far from Alice Springs. Though silent and isolated, the Red Centre has green vegetation and lush waterholes.

The Kimberley

Whether riding a camel down Broome’s Cable Beach or cruising Lake Argyle and being privy to tides taller than a building in the Buccaneer Archipelago, or following the red-dirt track from Broome to the remote Dampier Peninsula, Kimberley is a vast world of ancient gorges, weird rock formations, welcoming rock pools and golden beaches. Not to be missed.

Great Barrier Reef

Snorkel, swim or sail the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, a living masterpiece stretching 2000 km along the Queensland Coast. Explore the multi-hued coral islands and marine life from a natural wonder that can be seen from outer space.

Kangaroo Island

See native wildlife in the wild in the ecological haven of Kangaroo Island. Pink pelicans, sea lions, koalas way up high on trees, penguins on the shore…the Island also has some interesting heritage accommodation. Explore South Australia’s first lighthouses at Cape Willoughby, Cape Borda and Cape du Couedic or take a swim on some of the island’s secret beaches.

Kakadu National Park

The World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, around three hours east of Darwin, is Australia’s biggest national park. Home to millions of migratory birds amongst the wetlands, the thundering waterfalls and sprightly waterholes are sights to see.

Australia’s Rainforests

Australia’s rainforests stretch across the country and cover every climatic type, whether it is the dense tropical Daintree Rainforest in Queensland or Tasmania’s temperate wilderness.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
