Three reasons why Aryan and Yahvi will never forget Mount Buller

The tenth of August 2017 will have to go down as one of the most exciting days in the lives of Aryan (11) and Yahvi (8). They saw snow for the first time in their lives, they felt it for the first time, and they went tobogganing for the first time.

Mt Buller, a favourite ski destination for so many Australians and international tourists, turned on the weather, with brilliant blue skies and plenty of snow.

Yahvi thought walking in snow shoes was really funny. It took all of us, including me, a little while to get the hang of walking in the deep powder snow in special snow shoes designed for that purpose. After a number of falls and much laughter we finally got the hang of the whole deal as our balance and determination not to fall became stronger. After all, every time you fall over you have to get up and that is not as easy as one may think.

Tonight, I am looking at two very tired kids—but the light in their eyes and the anticipation of tomorrow—a whole day of skiing, lessons in the morning followed by an individual ski experience, is making it difficult to get them to bed.

Mt Buller is the ideal place to bring the family—friendly, fun—and a lot more than skiing!

Stay tuned for more on how they hold up for the rest of the trip—and how their parents Manu and Sharon fare.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
