The Brides of Asia show featured attire that was unique, innovative and high on originality
Nowman Kareem presented ‘Brides of Asia’ In Sydney for the second consecutive year, with this edition of the fashion show featuring wedding attire from India, China, Nepal and Sri Lanka. There were a few fusion pieces where Western styles were incorporated into traditional Eastern attire. The main purpose of the bridal show was to bring everything related to the elaborate planning of a wedding under one roof—from event managers, to hair dressers, make-up artists, photographers, decorators, florists, venues, fashion and jewellery. The show also featured renowned pageant title holders. The show was organised at the Holiday Inn in Potts Point, the Event Décor was by Taj Mahal Events and the show was hosted by Collin Lee, Founder of the East Asia Executives Club and Kathryn Nair, the Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs Australia 2016 who is also the CEO of Empower Women.
Nowman collaborated with many individuals and agencies to make this event possible. Inderpreet Kaur from Beauty Monks worked behind the scene to transform the ladies into blushing brides. With 10 years of experience in the hair and make-up industry, Reet as she is fondly called, gives the face she works on the perfect look every time. The other make-up artist was Heena Mohanlal, founder and senior consultant at Celebrity Makeovers. With more than 15 years of experience and numerous qualifications from academies in Australia, England and Fiji, Heena was trained at one of the finest academies in the industry, the Ash Kumar Academy. Together they created unique and breathtaking looks for the show.
Nowman worked hard to put this show together and offer the attendees information about the different looks that the Brides of Asia can have as they walk down the aisle on that very important day in their lives
Desire Creations is the definitive destination for women’s high-end fashion apparel in Sydney. The to-be brides can choose from a specially curated collection of ethnic embellished ensembles and mesmerising drapes with intricate workmanship. They specialise in sarees, salwar kameez, lehengas and anarkalis. There is also an array of bespoke jewellery and fashion accessories to compliment the bridal attire. Designer Shilpy Jain and Ranju Saini are proud of their handpicked authentic designs to bring for you “the look you want”. Saree Haven, a ‘boutique for women in style’ also brought to the show a beautiful collection of sarees, lehengas and anarkalis. Designer Rose Dogra creates pieces that reflect grace, elegance and artistry. The designer suits she offers involve a lot of experimentation, and are in beautiful and soothing colours with mesmeric designs and embellishments. Yet again this year Brides of Asia featured Zari by Saaj. Since the last show in 2016, Zari by Saaj has grown and continues to create elaborate silhouettes brewed with surprising embellishments along with passion to details. Their bridal collection is a stand out with vivacious colours, drama and glamour. They offer bespoke bridal couture and designer jewellery to give the bride an exquisite luxurious look for that special day.The models walked the ramp in beautiful bridal attires from Desire Creations, Saree Haven and Zari by Saaj.

The beautiful models on the ramp were captured in the frame by the Sydney People Photography, a non-profit community, run by volunteers who are passionate about people and fashion photography. Established by Jonathan and Deepak in January 2014, the group today has 3,400 members covering high end fashion and other events. The group organises a wide range of activities for its members, including photo shoots for creative/artistic expression, environmental portraiture to event photography. The group also provides a friendly atmosphere for the members to explore and enhance their creativity through activities like well-planned and organised photo-shoots/workshops around themes and concepts, presentations and seminars from established photographers and industry professionals and collaboration with other communities, clubs and events around Sydney.
