Wyndham residents will have a chance to pick the brains of two talented authors this month, with Kylie Ladd and Lucas Jordan stopping by the Plaza Library.

While they cover different genres, both Ms Ladd and Mr Jordan have captivated readers with their work.

Wyndham City’s Learning City portfolio holder, Cr Josh Gilligan, said hearing from both authors would be a great opportunity for aspiring writers.

“Wyndham frequently has fantastic authors visiting our local libraries to share their methods and inspiration with fans of literature. We’re very lucky to have both Kylie Ladd and Lucas Jordan joining us this month,” Cr Gilligan said.

Ms Ladd will be discussing her book The Way Back, which tells a haunting story of a disappearance and explores the grief behind the headlines that a family can feel.

This is her fifth book and adds to her collection of highly acclaimed work. “Ms Ladd also holds a PhD in neuropsychology, which I’m sure will make her talk in Wyndham even more captivating,” he added.

Lucas Jordan’s book, Stealth Raiders: A few Daring Men in 1918, details the gripping story of a few low-ranking Australian infantrymen who initiated stealth raids along the Western Front without orders during World War I.

Mr Jordan used firsthand accounts along with official archives and private records to piece the stories of these forgotten soldiers together. History buffs and aspiring writers are sure to gain a lot from hearing him talk later this month.

“Our author talks are free to attend. They are very popular and bookings are required, so get in early to avoid missing out,” Cr Gilligan said.

Kylie Ladd will speak at the Plaza Library on Thursday, 19 April from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, while Lucas Jordan will speak on Monday, 23 April from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
