Wyndham City’s Mayor was teeing off for a good cause last week.

Mayor Cr Henry Barlow welcomed local businesses and community groups to Werribee Park Golf Club for the Mayoral Charity Golf Day.

Cr Barlow said the day was a great event, as about 40 players got together to raise funds for Uniting Wyndham—formerly Uniting Care Werribee Support and Housing.

“The sun was shining as we spent the day on the golf course, and the best part is we managed to raise more than $4,000 for Uniting Wyndham,” Cr Barlow said.

“Uniting Wyndham has been an important part of our community since the 1980s. The dedicated team of staff and volunteers spend their time supporting vulnerable members of the community in housing and other support services,” he said. “They also coordinate a foster care service, youth services and more.”

Cr Barlow said Wyndham City recognised the invaluable contributions Uniting Wyndham makes to the community and was proud to be supporting it. “There are so many people living in Wyndham, and the western suburbs more broadly, who have benefited from the work Uniting Wyndham does,” Cr Barlow said. “We have no doubt they will put this money to good use.”

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
