The world’s first of its kind smart phone networking app for the international filmmaking and creative communities has recently made its debut, after approval by Apple and Google for worldwide release on their respective app stores.

The brainchild of Australian indie filmmaker Kosta Nikas and MoneyBrilliant founder Peter Lord, the aptly named Green Room aims to be a game changer in the filmmaking and creative space but also for anybody involved in the production of audio-visual content across all industries.

The iPhone version went online a few weeks ago and the android version just became available. Although it is early days, the figures are very encouraging for the Green Room as it has already members in over 25 countries including India and the USA!

“The Green Room is exactly what the doctor ordered for all of us grasping for air and by all of us I mean the entire film fraternity, television fraternity and advertising fraternity” — Prahlad Kakkar

Legendary Indian ad film director Prahlad Kakkar says, “The Green Room is exactly what the doctor ordered for all of us grasping for air and by all of us I mean the entire film fraternity, television fraternity and advertising fraternity…it puts the pleasure back into filmmaking and takes the pain out of it.”

Mahesh Mathai, Producer/Director (Sound Trek, Broken Thread) says he believes the app is a network tool that connects not just professionals in India, but the whole world.

“Our mission is to ensure that in this networking space our Indian and international filmmaking colleagues, cast, crew and creatives around the world are equipped with all the necessary tools and features that will help them create and crew projects in a timely and efficient manner, build their network, find jobs and advance their careers, no matter where they live or travel to!” say founders Peter Lord and Kosta Nikas.

“It’s a great networking tool for our young indie filmmakers. The more resources and support we provide them, the more we stimulate growth and employment in our sector,’’ says Adam Scott, Spectrum Films (Alien, Lion, Hacksaw Ridge) Fox Studios Australia.

The Green Room allows users to add as much information as they feel necessary to connect them with the right people and projects. They can add their: personal details, availability, education, work experience, bio, show reel, skills, equipment, location, projects, awards, IMDb link and more. The Green Room also allows users to create a profile regardless of the type of project, format and genre and its production status. Project creators can search for the right crew matching their criteria simply by posting a job/crew role and adding all the preferences they wish.

As with any new social networking application, The Green Room’s success depends on its relevance and ability to serve the needs and aspirations of its members and no doubt investor groups in this space will be carefully monitoring its progress.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
