Cricket Australia recently hosted top Indian TV stars who were in Australia shooting for an upcoming Bollywood project

Stars Asha Negi (Winner of Nach Baliye 6 and finalist of Khatron ke Khilari and of Pavitra Rishta fame), Mrinal Dutt (MTV Roomies and Channel V fame and who has done over 60 commercials and many TV shows), Manasi Moghe (Miss India Universe 2013 and first ever Miss Diva), and Tushar Sharma (theatre actor who has done over 30 commercials) were in Australia for over two months shooting at various locations over Victoria and NSW for this project. It’s a production by Manjit Ginny Singh (Director of Golden Hour Productions and Vodafone stores in Victoria) and marketed by Nitin Gursahani (Director of Kiren Australia Events).

The CEOs expressed a keen interest in hosting the stars for a BBL game if they were to come back for the movie premiere during that time. Cricket Australia also welcomed the group officially and conveyed their pleasure in hosting them.

A Cricket Australia visit was organised for them by Ms Molina Asthana (Principal Solicitor for the Victorian Government) who is also a Cricket Australia Ambassador. The stars were taken on a grand tour of the iconic MCG, the home of Australian Cricket accompanied by Cricket Australia senior officials, Mr Grant Poulter (Head of Public Policy and Government Relations), Sachin Kumar (Head of Strategy and Scheduling), Tavis Vallance (Diversity and Innovation Manager) and Hussain Hanif (Multicultural Participation Specialist at Cricket Victoria).

As part of the tour a presentation was made to the stars by the CEO of the Melbourne Renegades, Stuart Coventry and the CEO of the Melbourne Stars, Clint Cooper of the Big Bash League on the MCG ground itself. The CEOs expressed a keen interest in hosting the stars for a BBL game if they were to come back for the movie premiere during that time. Cricket Australia also welcomed the group officially and conveyed their pleasure in hosting them.

The stars were also shown the legendary Long Room, the members’ area and the famous picture of Sir Donald Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar at Sir Bradman’s 90th birthday.

Cricket has always been a common ground between India and Australia and considering the close link between Cricket and Bollywood in India, this visit further cements the bond between the two countries though the medium of popular culture and is a good initiative for enhancing these ties through sports and cultural diplomacy.

We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution.
