The Australian Asian Business Federation (AABF) is a dynamic business network linking Australia and Asia. The organisation had its first award ceremony eight years ago, a ceremony that is held every two years.

On Thursday, 27 April, the 2017 award nominations were officially launched and the press conference was attended by coordinators from various Asian communities. Arunesh Seth represented the Indian community, the first time ever that there has been an Indian representation. The representatives of the executive committee say that the award framework has evolved over the years and that the presence of a vibrant and thriving Indian Australian business community is well recognised by the other Asian counterparts and they see the benefits of all Asian business communities working together.

President of the Federation, Richard Gao, and event chairperson David Lung, along with Raymond Leung, Richard Wong and Dr Frank Alafaci spoke on the occasion. All the speakers highlighted that the Asian businesses are quite intrinsically intertwined with the Australian economy and that because of the new businesses being established in Australia, a number of job opportunities are being created for the resident Australians.

“I hope this alliance will open new avenues for the Indian businesses and benefit both, the Indian and the Chinese communities,” said Arunesh Seth.

The businesses and organisations can be nominated in the following five categories—Food and Beverage, Service Industry, Trade, Wholesale and Retail, Manufacturing and Agriculture and Young Asian Entrepreneur Business Excellence. The nominations will close on 18 October. The award ceremony will be held on 18 November.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.
